Consulting firm, McKinsey reviewed over 2,000 activities across 800 occupations to develop a report of the activities and sectors most likely to be automated.
Some highlights are:
- Predictable physical work, data processing and data collection are task most likely to become automated
- Managing others and applying expertise are the least likely to be automated
- 45% of all task will be automated
- Manufacturing and service sector are sectors most likely to become most automated
- Education is the sector least likely to become automated currently
It's important to note that while a large percentage of activities can be automated in certain sectors, it doesn't mean the entire job can be automated. The article stresses that people will need to be retrained to work on more creative and social task that require expertise application and human emotion sensing.
